A Greeting from Pastor Kee

Dear Friends,

Did you know that Jesus says in the Bible, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10b)? Well, He does. And He means it. In fact, He died so we could have it. Yes, a lot of people do think Jesus is just about being good, following rules, being morally upright. But Jesus tells us that’s not it at all! Believe it or not, the message of Jesus Christ is about living life to the full! Enjoying life as God’s child, not putting a damper on it. This is the gospel of Jesus Christ!

We here at Hope firmly believe that the gospel is about those who are transformed by the grace and mercy found in Jesus Christ to live freely as children of God. Indeed, this transformation often results in what people might view as a moral change in the person’s behavior, but that moral change is always secondary. Primary is the freedom one attains through God’s lavish grace. Such grace doesn’t demand change, it compels it. The difference is an unbridgeable gulf.

But please don’t misunderstand me. The message is not that if we have Jesus, He will bless us with fullness of life by giving us worldly wealth. The message is far, far greater! Why is it that all the Apostles were able to find profound peace and joy and contentment despite being continually exposed to hardships? It’s because Jesus provided for them something infinitely superior to worldly wealth. Jesus provided for them an eternally secure relationship as God’s children, the doting provision of a loving and omnipotent Father, and the imperishable inheritance of the riches of heaven! Paul says in Ephesians 1:18-19, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” It is this that we have in Jesus. To be sure, God does provide us the material things we need to live a full life here. But our joy is not found in those things, but in the Provider of those things.

Hope Presbyterian Church English Ministry is a community devoted to loving Jesus, taking pleasure in the renewed life He gives us as His children, and getting other people to join the ride! We’d love for you to taste the joy we’ve experienced in the personal God found in Jesus Christ.

May God Bless You Abundantly,
